Hello, I’m Fiona.
I’m a fully qualified, professional and full time triathlon coach. I have an MSc in Applied Sports Nutrition and am fully immersed in currently researching endurance sport nutrition, completing my PhD. My expert areas are creating bespoke training progressions for triathletes, swimmers, cyclists and runners to pursue their potential in the varied domain of endurance and ultra endurance multi-sport and having an enhanced understanding of the interplay between nutrition, training and performance.
Many athletes who work with me are seeking to shift the conversations about their training, nutrition and progression from anecdotal advice and/ or a ‘one size fits all’ plan, to scientifically based individual coaching, rigorously quantified in the sports of endurance and ultra endurance, specific to triathlon and multisport. In the field of human physiology, sports nutrition and performance it is a given that no two triathletes, training periodisation or race preparations are the same, meaning that progress is rarely linear, even with the most diligent or committed athlete.
My fully individualised programs expertly combine all areas in a matrix of performance development, developing key factors that influence the success and quality of training sessions, prioritising athlete welfare and longevity in endurance sport, which for some, is a lifelong pursuit. By appreciating the diversity in qualities, skills and experiences developed in competitive situations or the sporting domain, an Athlete-Centric Training system focuses on your individuality as a multisport athlete and ensures you make and sustain progress in key areas for performance in triathlon.
I have developed an individually focused, Athlete-Centric Training System which tailors your training progression to identified season goals and your individual ability to sustain progress from phase to phase. My program is based on over 20 years of experience, working with world-class coaches, winning World and European Championships and progression from top ten finishing Amateur to Pro Ironman athlete with a full-time day job. Nutrition is included due to the impact on recovery and performance. Training in isolation is otherwise limited.
My approach is evidence-based, applying two decades of research in Sports Science as a professional athlete and coach. My ongoing and recent professional development includes conducting scientific research in applied sports nutrition and triathlon performance at Masters and PhD level, to differentiate scientifically backed, specific, individualised advice from a range of conflicting information and sources, to athletes I coach, and their goals. Making the complex simple!
As the athlete, you can fully focus on the quality of executing your bespoke program of sessions and developing your matrix of individual performance factors to feel, see and experience ongoing consistency in results. As a full-time professional coach and qualified sports nutritionist, I provide you with confidence in your plan focusing on the details, to ensure you keep improving.
Performance is a journey, not a destination!
I offer two main levels of coaching support, depending on the requirements of the athlete. My coaching places are limited each season for individually curated triathlon coaching programs, due to the detail and scope of the work involved for each athlete in a season.
** PLEASE NOTE ** Limited places for 2023 on my Athlete-Centric coaching program are now available **
Please contact me to arrange an initial chat about your requirements.
